Jesse Williams Is Still Fighting Child Support Demands From His Ex-Wife

The escalating bitterness between Jesse Williams and his estranged wife, Aryn Drake-Lee, is unlikely to diminish anytime soon. In fact, it appears the strained relationship between the two just got even worse — Williams is fighting back against his ex’s request for more spousal support, asking the court to deny the increase.

Court documents obtained by E! News reportedly reveal that Williams says Drake-Lee “exaggerates many of our expenses.” Williams offered context, stating, “We agreed that our children should live a simple life without wasting money on extravaganza.”
It’s clear there is no love lost between the two — on both sides.

Supreme Court rules for Christian cake baker but voices support for gay rights too

The Supreme Court upheld both gay rights and religious freedom Monday with a narrowly written decision in favor of a Christian baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.

By a 7-2 vote, the court said Jack Phillips, the Colorado baker, was treated with hostility and bias by a state commission that concluded his actions violated a state anti-discrimination law. One commission member had commented that religion was used throughout history to justify slavery, the Holocaust and “all kinds of discrimination.”

Malian ‘spiderman’ hero to get French citizenship after saving child from fourth floor balcony

A Malian man hailed a hero after saving a child dangling from a fourth floor balcony in Paris will be granted French citizenship.

Mamoudou Gassama met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace after a video of his daring rescue went viral on social media.
As well as being made a French citizen, the 22-year-old – who recently moved to the country in the hope of a new life – will be offered a place in the fire brigade, Mr Macron said on Monday.

Mr Macron hailed the “exceptional act”, telling Mr Gassama: “You saved a child. Without you, no one knows what would have become of him.
“You need courage and the capability to do that.”

He added Mr Gassama had become an “example” because millions have viewed the astonishing act after footage was uploaded to Facebook.
The migrant admitted he was “trembling” after the rescue, but told the French president: “When I started to climb, it gave me courage to keep climbing.”

Mr Gassama also received a medal and certificate for bravery on his visit to the presidential residence.
He scaled an apartment block in northern Paris on Saturday evening after seeing a four-year-old in danger.

Footage shows Mr Gassama pulling himself up from balcony to balcony in a matter of seconds, while a man on the fourth floor tries to hold on to the child by leaning across from a neighbouring balcony.

On reaching the fourth floor, Mr Gassama puts one leg over the balcony before reaching out with his right arm and grabbing the child.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the child had already been rescued. A spokesman said: “Luckily, there was someone who was physically fit and who had the courage to go and get the child.”

More than a dozen killed by outbreak of rare nipah virus in India

The World Health Organisation says the nipah disease spreading through a state in southwest India could cause a global epidemic.

Emergency measures have been imposed across the southwestern state of Kerala following the emergence of the nipah virus, which causes flu-like symptoms leading to an agonising brain-swelling condition known as encephalitis.

Those afflicted by the disease, which has a mortality rate of 70% and has no vaccine, can also be sent in to a coma.

Health experts have been flown over to help contain the virus, which is listed alongside ebola and zika as one of eight priority diseases the World Health Organisation believes could cause a global epidemic.

Nipah has killed 260 people in Malaysia, Bangladesh and India since 1998, and has previously spread to Singapore.
Pigs were the host on that occasion, but this time it has been spread by fruit bats, with a number of the winged animals found dead in a well at the home of a family which has lost four people to the disease.

Two killed as Alberto makes landfall on Florida Panhandle

Two people were killed as subtropical storm Alberto’s strong surf, powerful wind gusts and heavy rains tore across the Gulf of Mexico coast and swamped the Southeast, officials and forecasters said Monday.

Alberto, the first named storm of the hurricane season, made landfall on Florida’s Panhandle on Monday afternoon, washing out the unofficial start of summer.

In Polk County, North Carolina, two television journalists were killed when a tree fell on their vehicle, state Trooper Rico Stephens said. Their station, NBC affiliate WYFF of Greenville, South Carolina, identified them as anchor Mike McCormick and photographer Aaron Smeltzer.
“All of us at WYFF News 4 are grieving,” the station said in a tweet. “We are a family.”

Tryon Fire Chief Geoff Tennant added that he’d done an interview with McCormick shortly before his death.

“We had talked a little bit about how he wanted us to stay safe and how we wanted him to stay safe,” Tyron told reporters. “Of course, 10, 15 minutes later we get the call and it was him and his photographer.”

Polk County warned in a Facebook post that the area where the incident occurred — just north of the South Carolina state line — had become dangerous and more flash flooding was possible through Wednesday.

DENVER — A Colorado woman has been cited by police after a container of what appeared to be urine blew up as she was heating it up in a microwave at a 7-Eleven.

Police say the incident occurred in the convenience store chain’s Aurora location last week when the clerk heard a loud bang and saw 26-year-old Angelique Sanchez take a white plastic bottle out of the microwave.

A police report says when confronted by the clerk, Sanchez wiped a yellow liquid that smelled like urine onto the floor and walked out.

Police located Sanchez at a nearby clinic where she had planned to take a urinalysis test for a potential employer.

The Denver woman was issued a summons for damaged property. She could not be reached for comment.
