Man dumps bucket of poop in 7-Eleven as revenge act: cops

A Florida man dumped a bucket of human waste inside a 7-Eleven convenience store Wednesday as an act of revenge against a manager who had kicked him out months prior, police said.

Damian Simms, 41, walked into the St. Petersburg shop around 1:30 a.m. and emptied the bucket containing human feces and urine onto the floor and some splashed onto merchandise, The Smoking Gun reported.

Simms was reportedly mad at the manager for having him kicked out of the store in May, according to the crime website. Police said Simms filled the bucket with waste from a port-a-potty.

Simms was charged with trespassing and criminal mischief and was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $300 bond, according to The Smoking Gun. He is barred from contacting the store or the manager.

The Smoking Gun reported Simms had a long criminal history, which includes convictions for burglary, weapons possession, grand theft, animal cruelty, drunk driving and carrying a concealed weapon.

Mother charged with murder after allegedly tossing daughter into Hillsborough River

Shakayla Denson faces first-degree felony murder, aggravated child abuse and grand theft auto charges.
TAMPA, Fla. – A 26-year-old mother was charged with murder charges after detectives said she waded into the Hillsborough River and dropped her 4-year-old daughter in.

Shakayla Denson, of Tampa, was charged with first-degree felony murder, aggravated child abuse and grand theft auto charges, Tampa police said.
Denson is accused of stealing a car from an auto repair shop, then parking the vehicle on North Rome Avenue, police said. Then she walked into the river at about 4 p.m. and left her daughter, Je’Hyrah Daniels, in the water, police said.

“The TPD dive team went to the scene at North Rome Avenue and West Aileen Street,” police said. “At approximately 4:30 p.m., a dive team member discovered an unconscious child submerged about 75 feet off shore.”

Je’Hyrah was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Denson was apprehended while walking not far from where the child was dumped in the river, Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan said.

Denson has previous arrests for driving with a suspended license and theft charges dating back two year ago.
“Unfortunately at this point, there are a lot more questions than answers,” said Dugan, who called the situation a “completely tragic event.

“It’s a crazy world we live in,” he said.

Virginia Man Sentenced to 23 Years In Prison After Traveling to Haiti for Sex With Minor

WASHINGTON – A Virginia man was sentenced to 276 months in prison, to be followed by a life term of supervised release, for traveling from the United States to Haiti and engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor, Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Thomas T. Cullen of the Western District of Virginia and Special Agent in Charge Patrick J. Lechleitner of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Washington, D.C., announced on Monday.

This sentenced resulted from an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

James Daniel Arbaugh, 40, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, pleaded guilty on Feb. 6, to one count of traveling in foreign commerce from the United States to Haiti in or about 2016 to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a person under the age of 18 before U.S. District Court Judge Elizabeth K. Dillion of the Western District of Virginia, who sentenced him on Monday and remanded him to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

“James Arbaugh was a wolf in sheep’s clothing: he posed as a selfless missionary when in reality he was exploiting his position to prey on and sexually abuse vulnerable children in one of the most impoverished areas of the world,” said Assistant Attorney General Benczkowski. “Today’s sentencing is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our prosecutors and law enforcement partners to hold sexual predators like Arbaugh accountable for their deplorable crimes.”

Unarmed felon robs bar so he could go back to prison, avoid homelessness

A man who spent more than three decades behind bars for murder and parole violations begged police to put him back inside to avoid homelessness.

Paul H. Barroni was 17 in 1979 when he was sentenced to 35 years in prison for fatally stabbing a Missouri high school student who wouldn’t date him. After serving 38 years – which included several parole violations – he was released on Feb. 8.

However, not less than a month later, the 57-year-old walked into a Clayton bar that is popular among judges and lawyers and threatened to shoot an employee if she did not call the police.

Authorities said Barroni did not have a gun with him and was using his finger.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Barroni told police he wanted to get arrested.

“He just came right out and said it, ‘I want to go back to jail,’” said Clayton Police Capt. Stewart Glenn.
Barroni told police that he had been kicked out of one housing facility and then tried to get a bed at a homeless shelter in downtown St. Louis, but had no luck getting in.

“He said he wasn’t going to be homeless,” Glenn said. “He doesn’t want to be out there.”
Court papers showed that he was kicked out of the housing facility because he violated rules barring drug and alcohol use and was combative with staff.

Barroni is now facing a first-degree robbery charge and was held on $250,000 cash bail. His court-appointed attorney couldn’t be reached for comment.Authorities said Barroni did not have a gun with him and was using his finger.

2 dead, gunman at large in Central Michigan University shooting

Two people were killed in a fourth-floor room of a Central Michigan University residence hall early Friday morning, police and the university said.
The two who were killed were not students, the university said.

Sources told the Detroit Free Press that the victims are believed to be the shooter’s parents. The situation is believed to have started from a domestic dispute.

The suspect is still at large. He is considered armed and dangerous. The entire CMU campus and most of Mount Pleasant, where the university is located, is locked down while police from local, state and federal agencies search the area.

The person of interest is James Eric Davis, Jr. He is a black male, approximately 19 years of age, 5-feet-10 and 135 pounds.
Davis was released from the hospital this morning, shortly before the shooting. Police said they had contact with him late Thursday night and took him to a local hospital, where he was turned over to the medical staff for what police believe may have been some sort of drug-related issue.

Police said cameras located in the common area and exits of the dorm captured Davis leaving the dorm, headed north and running along train tracks. Police said they had recovered pieces of clothing along the tracks.

Friday is the last day before spring break. Many students had already left campus, but others were planning to leave today. CMU is asking anyone who is planning to come to campus today to pick up students for spring break to stay off campus until further notice.

University officials are asking them to go to a nearby hotel, where university staff will be on site to support the families.

CMU is a university of about 25,000 students, located in mid-Michigan. It is about an hour north of Lansing, the state capital and about 2 1/2 hours northwest of Detroit.

Long Island surgeon accused of choking nurse with elastic cord at hospital

A Long Island surgeon tried strangling a nurse to punish her for making a mistake while treating a patient at Nassau University Medical Center, according to reports and police.

Venkatesh Sasthkonar ripped an elastic cord from his sweatshirt and wrapped it around the 51-year-old nurse’s neck during a fight at the East Meadow hospital around 4:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

The attack left the nurse gasping for air after the 44-year-old surgeon reportedly took exception to the nurse giving his patient medication at the wrong time, Newsday reported.

“I should kill you for this,” Sasthkonar allegedly told his victim.

Sasthkonar left the hospital but returned hours later and was arrested, according to police.

The victim, who was not identified, suffered “substantial pain to her neck,” cops said.

Sashakonar and the victim were both working at the time of the attack. He has been suspended pending the investigation’s outcome, the paper reported.

College tennis player suspended after telling black opponent ‘at least I know my dad’ during match

BOONE, N.C. — A white men’s college tennis player has been suspended after a black opponent tweeted that his on-court rival told him “at least I know my dad” during their weekend match.

Appalachian State University in North Carolina issued a statement Monday saying Spencer Brown, who’s white, was suspended indefinitely after Sunday’s match with North Carolina A&T State University, a historically black college. Appalachian State apologized in its statement, calling the conduct “derogatory and offensive.”

John Wilson, the black player who is also A&T’s senior class president, said Brown made other offensive comments during Sunday’s NCAA Division I match. The tweet included a photo of Brown.

A school spokeswoman says there’ll be no additional comment. A recording heard on a call to Appalachian State’s men’s tennis coach said his number was disconnected.

Police Charge Two Students After The Suicide Of A 12-Year-Old Florida Girl

Gabrielle Green was cyberstalked by two kids at her school.

A 12-year-old girl committed suicide earlier this month after two of her classmates allegedly bullied her into doing it.

Gabriella Green was found dead her home in Panama City Beach, Florida on Jan. 10. She was reportedly harassed by two other 12-year-old students before she took her own life. Police found the messages on the girl’s phone.

According to the Florida Times Union, after she received the harassing messages, she went into a closet and hanged herself with a dog leash.
The two students — whose names aren’t being released because they’re minors — were arrested after investigators combed through several cellphone records and social media accounts. Both of them, a male and a female student, confessed to cyberbullying Green.

“[The suspect’s] actions consisted of starting rumors of the victim having sexually transmitted diseases, vulgar name-calling … and threats to ‘expose’ personal and sensitive details of the victim’s life,” the police report read.

Green allegedly called the male suspect and told him she was going to commit suicide and he responded something to the effect of, “if you’re going to do it, just do it.”

He then ended the call.

“He immediately regretted that statement, and began calling and text-messaging her, but did not receive a response,” the statement read.

According to police, the investigation didn’t reveal that cyberbullying was the sole cause of Green’s death. Just that it was occurring at the time of her death. Her family does not feel the same way.

Green’s mother, Tanya green” said the students’ arrests were “gratifying,” after her daughter had to suffer in silence “with a smile on her face.”

In Florida, cyberstalking falls under Florida’s stalking statute and carries a maximum punishment of one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

The official cause of Green’s death has not yet been ruled.

Old friends from Argentina reunited in New York. Five died together in a terrorist attack.

ROSARIO, ARGENTINA – The childhood friends from Argentina had been planning the trip to New York City for years. The men all hailed from Rosario, Argentina’s third largest city, about 185 miles northwest of Buenos Aires. As teenagers, they had bonded in the halls and classrooms of the Instituto Politécnico, a technical high school in Rosario, and graduated together from there in 1987.

Through the decades — despite job changes, marriage, children, moves to far-flung corners of the world — they remained close friends. And on Saturday, eight of the former classmates gathered to fly to the United States to celebrate their 30th graduation anniversary.

They were in their late 40s now, firmly in the realm of middle age. But as they posed for a photograph just before their departure, the old friends slung their arms over one another and grinned like schoolkids. They donned matching white T-shirts emblazoned with the same word: “LIBRE.” Free.It is unclear when exactly they arrived in New York; they had planned to stop in Boston, to meet up with another former classmate. But what is certain is that on Tuesday — a beautiful, brisk fall afternoon in Manhattan — the men rode bicycles along a bike path flanking the Hudson River.

As they pedaled along the West Side Highway, a white rented Home Depot truck turned onto the path as well.

The truck would soon plow into a crowd of pedestrians and cyclists, killing at least eight people — including five of the Argentine men. At least one other former classmate from the group was injured.

58 people are dead and more than 515 are injured after a mass shooting in Las Vegas

At least 58 people were killed and more than 515 were injured Sunday night in Las Vegas in the deadliest shooting in modern US history.

A gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, aiming into a tightly packed crowd of thousands below who were attending a country music festival.

The shooter, armed with what appeared to be at least one automatic weapon, used the elevated vantage point to fire into the crowds across the Las Vegas Strip at the Route 91 Harvest festival, where Jason Aldean was onstage.

Officers identified the shooter as Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old man from Nevada. They believe he was the only attacker, and that he killed himself before they arrived.

Police completed a search of Paddock’s hotel room and his home in Mesquite, Nevada, which is around 80 miles from Las Vegas. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department sheriff Joseph Lombardo said officers recovered large amounts of evidence, including at least 10 rifles from the hotel room. A law enforcement official told The New York Times later on Monday that authorities had recovered 19 rifles from Paddock’s room. Police also recovered weapons and ammunition after they searched his Mesquite home on Monday.

Soon after the shooting, which began at 10:08 p.m. PDT, a SWAT team stormed the building, forced their way into his hotel room, and found the gunman already dead.
